A.D.O.P.T. Response to Covid-19

We understand the growing concern surrounding COVID-19 and our hearts go out to those who have been affected.  Our priority is and always will be the health and well-being of both pets and the people who care for them.

With that in mind we wanted to share a few things with you:

*A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter is cleaned and sanitized daily as a part of our normal operations.  In light of the current COVID-19 situation we have increased the frequency and extent of our cleaning protocols.

*A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter has hand sanitizer readily available throughout the shelter as well as hand washing stations located in our conference room and restrooms.

*A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter has currently suspended all off-site events, troop visits, and birthday parties

*A.D.O.P.T.  Pet Shelter will continue to offer adoptions and intake of new animals during this time but will closely monitor and refer to the Center for Disease Control for direction in the days and weeks to come.

*A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter is encouraging staff and volunteers to follow appropriate preventative actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including staying home if they are feeling ill or believe they may be at risk. **To date the CDC has not received any reports of pets or other animals becoming sick with COVID-19.  Currently, there is no evidence that companion animals including pets can spread COVID-19. However, since animals can spread other diseases to people, it is recommended to thoroughly wash your hands after interactions with animals.

Should you become sick with COVID-19, interaction with pets and other animals, just like interactions with people should be restricted.  Although there have not been reports of pets or other animals becoming sick with or transmitting COVID-19 it is still recommended that people sick with COVID-19 avoid contact with animals until more information is available.  For more information about COVID-19 please visit the CDC website: www.cdc.gov

At A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter everything we do is with a whole hearted commitment to ensuring the safety of our animals and those who dedicate their lives to caring for them.  Please be safe and stay healthy, we truly appreciate everything you do!
